TBΩ's Health Promotion and Family Strengthening Committees joined forces to participate in the 23rd Annual Health, Wellness, & Safety Fair sponsored by the 186th Area Homeowners Association in Gardena at the school of the same name. Our booth provided information on ways to combat Childhood Obesity; exercises that involve the whole family; and ways to do healthy grocery shopping on a budget. Handouts were available in English and Spanish. We also provided a variety of free healthy snacks for fair attendees. One of the highlights of the TBΩ booth was the hula hoop contest. This promoted activity and exercise in a fun, interactive way. Prizes were intentionally designed to encourage healthy activities. Winners were able to chose from footballs, hula hoops, baseballs with bats, beach frisbees, and extra large water bottles.
